Record-breaking local election result

I was re-elected as a Scottish Green Party Councillor for the Hillhead Ward on 5th May 2022 with a record-breaking result. Gaining 36% share of the vote is a significant achievement.

Many thanks for all the support that I received during the local election campaign, including the putting up of window posters.

I am delighted to have the opportunity to work as a local councillor with local residents, community groups and businesses to address local priorities or individual concerns over the next five years.

Residential development on Fergus Drive

There have been ongoing concerns about noise nuisance from the housing building works on Fergus Drive, especially at weekends.

The building works are taking place next to two significant trees. Residents have shared their fears about these trees being damaged as part of the works as they appear to be unprotected.

Emergency works at M8 Woodside Viaduct

This month, I have observed the continuing works to repair the M8 Woodside Viaduct. There have been road closures during the night as the works programme has progressed.

The walking and cycling routes under the motorway at New City Road have remained accessible during the repairs.

I have requested wider community engagement as part of this project. There is very limited signage and a lack of noticeboards with information available to local residents on the details of the emergency works.

Celebrating May Day at Kelvingrove Bandstand

On 1st May, I took part in Glasgow's May Day Rally, organised by Glasgow Trades Council, which went from George Square to Kelvingrove Bandstand. This year's theme was "workers are heroes, build the economy around them".

Ban the Bomb Placards at the bandstand

There was a call for a new deal for all key workers, that acknowledges their sacrifices and commitment during the pandemic.

Hands mural on St. Georges Road

There is a stunning new mural on St George’s Road, at its junction with Garscube Road, by the well known Glasgow Artist Rogue One. This has been supported by Queens Cross Housing Association.

Over the last month, I have looked forward to seeing this new landmark on my bike journeys along Garscube Road Segregated Cycle Way,
