Improvements needed at Clarendon Street

This week, I have received a request for improvements to the roadway and pavement of Clarendon Street.

View of uneven road surface and missing cobbles.

There is potential to enhance this streetscape as part of the re-opening of the Woodside Halls. Additional tree planting, cycle friendly infrastructure, better pavements, and an outdoor gym are suggested.

Walk along the canal towpath to the Claypits Nature Reserve

I enjoy a walk along the canal towpath where you have views across to the west end and city centre.

On the walking route, there are several cafes to take a break and have some refreshments.

This walk can end with a view of the swans at the canal basin next to Speirs Wharf and M8 motorway.

Demolition work at Burnbank Gardens

On a walkabout, today, I noticed the demolition of the former residential care home on Burnbank Gardens is underway.

This site is being cleared to make way for the 25 Burnbank Gardens development by Queens Cross Housing Association and Glasgow West Housing Association. There are 48 flats being built to benefit older people and the flats will be available for social rent.

Public realm works on Church Street

As part of the Glasgow City Region project to improve the quality of Byres Road and surrounding streets, there are public realm works taking place. This is a significant investment in our public realm after many hours of public consultation and detailed planning.

The first phase started in Church Street, last month. It will continue for approximately 18 months including Partick Cross to University Avenue.
