On my walkabout today, I noticed wildflowers growing on the roof of the bike shelter of Woodside Health and Care Centre. These shelters are creating habitat to support biodiversity and pollinators, including bees and butterflies.

The development of green roofs offers effective and practical use of space to help sustain wildlife habitats. This example shows that there is potential for all bus shelters and bike shelters to provide green roofs in response to the ecological crisis.
